A new project of the UN's Alliance of Civilizations, PLURAL+ is an international youth video competition focusing on the topics of migration, inclusiveness and identity. Winners, aged 9 to 25, gathered at the awards ceremony in New York for a screening of their films. The event celebrated and recognized youth as powerful agents of social change in a world often characterized by intolerance and cultural and religious divisions. The video tells the story of two residents living and working in the region of Guaianases. Dona Maria, who sells hot dogs, known as the aunt's dog, and Mr. Paulo, who sells candies, popularly knew as little uncle of breaking chin. The two are very famous and became a reference point in the neighborhood, including me, who grew up watching these characters through the streets of my community. They survive doing these humble work, and in a simply way they are gaining the attention for years and the hearts of residents of Guaianases. ( less )
